Here I am, drawn into attention (after a month of computer blasted news) . "What’s left behind in such a world is not just the out-of-the-ordinary, but also the ordinary. The person who wonders why we don’t move a little slower. The person who wants to look again. The person who wants to spend more time."
Thank you for this and for so many beautiful poems and analyses and digressions and then for tying it all back together. I think your work in these weekly posts is joyous and somber and settling and wonderful.
I always appreciate your Sunday posts so much, Devin. They often set the tone--whether introspective, mindful, or poetic--for the rest of my day. Your students are lucky to have you. Thank you for sharing the slides from your Last Lecture with us, too. I was particularly struck by the image with the billboard. Do you know if it is a real billboard, somewhere? I hope you find time to work on your own poetry this summer, if it's what calls to you.
Wonderful and thoughtful as always. You have a special gift for helping us to appreciate the extraordinary in the every day. Thank you for spending your precious time on sharing these thoughts with us. Love the poems you pick as well. You might like this one:
Most times, especially today, I want to say so much about how your words strike at the heart of everything and at my own little life. You have a rare gift of expressing depth that is healing and makes me look forward to each Sunday morning. Selfishly, I hope you continue. Thank you so much.
Paying attention to what you have written opens my heart and my mind to wonder. I appreciate you, the poems you share and your thoughts on them more than I can express. Thank you for this gift.
No issues with broken records, especially when they play and replay my favorite songs. Thanks for this weekly gift.
Thank you — appreciate it

Thank you so much! And the billboard is a Stephen Shore photograph! Unsure about where it is.
Just found this Linda Gregg poem, which seems very apt to what you have been writing about:
The Otherness
Of course there is the otherness,
right away inside you when
the doe steps carefully down
the embankment. Then clatter
of hoof and the dappled water
with leaf shade. The otherness
and the invisible until you came.

Eternal Moment
Bernard Leach, 1967
All that has been
Is now,
All that shall be
Is now,
In this seed moment.
Beautiful! Thank you.
